Campion Hruby Landscape Architects is proud to announce that founding principal Robert C. “Bob” Hruby, ASLA, has been elevated to the Council of Fellows of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA)—one of the highest honors in the profession. The formal investiture took place in October during the 2025 ASLA Conference on Landscape Architecture in New Orleans. Elevation to the Council of Fellows recognizes landscape architects who have made exceptional and sustained contributions to the field across works, leadership, knowledge, and service.
“Bob’s induction is a meaningful reflection of the impact he has made across decades of design practice,” said Kevin Campion, co-founding principal of Campion Hruby Landscape Architects. “His thoughtful stewardship, commitment to craft, and passion for planting design have shaped extraordinary places and inspired all of us who have the privilege of working beside him.”
Over his distinguished career, Hruby has led more than 300 design projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond, including public gardens, campuses, civic landscapes, and private estates. His work is defined by a deep commitment to ecological integrity, native plant stewardship, and placemaking rooted in regional character and natural systems. Among his notable projects is the ecological parking garden at Adkins Arboretum, a transformative landscape that replaces conventional paving with stormwater-filtration systems and immersive learning environments—demonstrating how sustainability and beauty can coexist in public design.
Beyond his design achievements, Hruby is recognized as a generous mentor and advocate for emerging professionals, shaping future leaders while advancing design excellence across the profession.
“The 2025 Class of ASLA Fellows reflects the very best of landscape architecture—visionary leaders whose work uplifts communities, restores ecosystems, and advances climate-ready design,” said ASLA President Kona Gray, FASLA, PLA. ASLA CEO Torey Carter-Conneen added, “This year’s Fellows have transformed places and policies, inspired future leaders, and advanced equity, resilience, and beauty in the built and natural world. We are honored to recognize their extraordinary contributions to the profession and to society.”
